Duo Typewriter

Distraction-free writing, the way it used to sound. Half-fold your iPhone Duo and it becomes a portable typewriter. A sheet of paper rises out of the platen on the upper half. The lower half is the machine: glossy enamel, round glass-topped keys on metal stems, a chrome space bar and a carriage-return lever you swipe. EVERY LETTER IS STRUCK No two letters land the same. Each strike has its own ink density, slight tilt and offset, with heavier hits now and then. Switch the two-tone ribbon to type in red. IT FEELS MECHANICAL • The carriage slides left as you type • The bell rings near the margin • Swipe the lever to return the carriage • Clacks, thunks and the zip of the return, all with haptics WRITE FORWARD Draft mode works like the real thing: backspace strikes over with XXXX so you keep going.
